Stanhope Primary School has a clothing policy accepted and agreed to by the Governors of the school. The school is very keen that the pupils should associate different clothing for different occasions eg. tracksuits – sporting activities, leisure wear (jeans, multi-coloured clothing) for out of school activities, fashion wear – parties or special activities.

Here at Stanhope Primary School we believe that that the wearing of school uniform is vital for pupil development and the conduct of the school, promoting our high expectations for all.

For ease, we have attached photos of several children in school uniform and PE kit that adheres to our policy.
May we also remind parents that children must wear school-branded jumpers and cardigans which are green and on PE days the school’s green branded hoodie can be worn.
Leggings, and cycling shorts are not permitted to be worn at all.
All items of branded uniform are available from the school office to purchase.
We also have a small selection of items in our swap shop that are available free of charge.
If you do have any uniform that has been outgrown, or no longer needed and is in good condition, please consider donating it to us to add to our much needed swap shop.

Hair, Jewellery, False Nails and Make up

Stanhope Primary School has a right to expect that long hair can be safely tied back for work in learning activities such as cookery, technology, art, physical education and any other situations where a risk assessment deems it to be placing individuals at risk.

Promoting a strong, cohesive, school identity that supports high standards and a sense of identity among pupils: if some children look very different to their peers, this can inhibit integration, equality and cohesion; therefore, Stanhope Primary School have decided that the adopting of fashionable hair colour and styles is forbidden, which includes shaved patterns and extreme styles. Natural hair colour is only acceptable.

Stanhope Primary School have considered that a suitable watch and/ a small pair of stud earrings may be worn throughout the day but must be removed in learning activities where it is deemed to be a health and safety risk [such as physical education]. The only exceptions to this rule are small objects of religious significance.

At Stanhope Primary we have established guidelines regarding the use of false nails and makeup to maintain a cohesive appearance across all of our pupils.

False Nails False nails, including acrylics, gels or any other artificial enhancements are not permitted while at school, on trips or at events representing the school.

Makeup Make up is not permitted in school and children who come into school with make up on will be asked to remove this. The only exception to this is school parties and discos.

Both the staff and myself will be vigilant with these requests and pupils will be reminded on a regular basis to follow the school policy. Those pupils, who persistently do not adhere to school policy, their parents/carers will be contacted, asked to collect them and be returned to school with correct uniform.

If you have any pre-loved uniform that is too small or no longer needed, we do have a Swap Shop that you can donate to and access within the Hub. Come to the School Office for more information or to access these items.
