Internet Safety Day

21st January 2019S Office

We have been asked to give the following message to Parents/Carers:

South Tyneside Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults Boards, in partnership with South Tyneside Council and Northumbria Police, are supporting Internet Safety Day 2019.  This will be launched by The Mayor of South Tyneside Mr Ken Stephenson, on Monday 04 February, 10am-12noon at The Word, National Centre for the Written Word, when there will be the opportunity to view the first in a series of video podcasts aimed at supporting parents and carers with keeping children safe online.  More editions of these will follow in future and these are being shared with all of our partners including schools.

Following the launch there are a series of drop in sessions aimed at helping people of all ages to stay safe online, as well as providing a top tips guide for identifying and dealing with internet scams and bogus callers. The sessions are open to both professionals and members of the community.

Year 4 – The Tudors

21st December 2018S Office
This week, Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed the end of their topic of ‘Who Were the Terrible Tudors?’ On Tuesday, the children celebrated with a Tudor Day. They researched a range of words invented by William Shakespeare, designed their own Tudor shield and even created a traditional Tudor dance in groups.
Later, the children tried pottage with bread. Most of the children enjoyed tasting the popular ancient soup. Overall, the children have learnt many facts about the Tudors, especially Henry VIII and his wives.

#STOPTHESTIGMAST

6th December 2018S Office

We have received the following information from Chrissy Hardy (Public Health Practitioner for children and young people)

We would like to share the following message!!

Hi all,

I am writing to you to formally launch our new ‘It’s Okay not to be Okay’ Mental Health Anti-Stigma Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to start conversations, spread key messages about mental health and encourage young people who are struggling to speak out about how they feel.

The campaign logo and artwork was designed by a group of South Tyneside young people and formally launched at a snazzy launch event at the Grotto South Shields. Young people have already started to promote this campaign and been sharing our logo already on their social media.

I have attached all of the artwork- Can you please use these on your screens, your websites and social media accounts. Can you please use the #STOPTHESTIGMAST so we can see where it is being shared.

Alongside the campaign launch we are also running a competition – we are looking for the most creative image of the tagline ‘It’s Okay not to be Okay’- this can be a photograph, a graphic, a poster- the more creative the better. Young people can enter this competition using the hashtag #stopthestigmaST or by emailing their entries to my email address. The closing date is Christmas Day and there will be prizes for the most creative.

Thanks again for helping to spread these messages

Chrissy
