Tyne and Wear Y4 Tennis Finals 2019

TYNE AND WEAR COUNTY FINALS 2019
Yesterday we had great success in the Tyne and Wear County School Games Finals at Silksworth, Sunderland.
Cassie was crowned County Y3/4 CHAMPION for Quadkids Athletics – an amazing achievement. Her talent was clear to see as she shone brightly in all 4 events.
Her Y3/4 Quadkids team mates excelled to win BRONZEt!
Our Y5/6 Quadkids team finished 4th, agonisingly close to gaining a medal.
Finally, our Y4 Tennis team played well to win 11 matches, but unfortunately did not progress beyond the group stages.
Well done to all 29 pupils who represented our school yesterday.
I’m very proud of each and everyone of you.
Congratulations to all of the medallists!

Summer Holiday Meals 2019

We have been asked to share this information on behalf of South Tyneside Council:

A new scheme is to be rolled out across South Tyneside to make sure children don’t go hungry in the school summer holidays.

The Council is to provide free meals at centres across the Borough for three days during the middle four weeks of the long school holidays to ease the pressure on struggling families.

There will be a mix of picnic – style food and hot food available depending on the day.

Year 5 workshops

Year 5 have been very busy lately! They have taken part in an activity with a visitor from Operation Encompass who helped the them work together to understand what makes a good friendship.

They have also been voting for the engineer they feel deserves the £500 funding, in an online project called I’m an Engineer Get Me Out Of Here! They have really enjoyed asking questions to the participants and finding out about the variety of skills needed to become an engineer. Some of the children were inspired to become engineers themselves!

Today Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed working with John and Michael from Durham University.
We have been exploring our local areas history, investigating artefacts, historical maps and the census too.
The changes were fascinating to see!

I’m An Engineer Get Me Out Of Here

Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in an interactive enrichment activity where they can talk to real life engineers from various fields such as a Flight Controls Lead Engineer for F-35B / Lightning II Jet Fighter. They had already completed a series of lessons in preparation for the session. Here they chatted and posed questions to the professionals, before voting for their favourite engineer.

It was very apt having been raising aspirations this academic year through our This Stanhope Pupil Can campaign. Many of the children in the class now want to be engineers!

Quadkids South Tyneside Y3/4 Finals 2019

Congratulations to our 20 budding athletes had a great day at the Quadkids Finals, where they ran, jumped and threw there way to scoring many points for the team.

We are the Y3/4 South Tyneside Quadkids CHAMPIONS!!

The A Team finished in 1st place and will now compete in the Tyne and Wear County Finals on June 27th.

The B Team finished a creditable 10th from 40 Teams.

Well Done to Cassie 1st Girl Overall, Given 2nd Boy Overall and Ruby 3rd Girl Overall.

Regional Selection

Congratulations to Aston and Sophie who have been selected to represent the U13s Regional Squad for Basketball in Sheffield.

They will also represent the North East in the U11s Mini Basketball England Tournament in the coming weeks.

We are so, so proud of you both! Your hard work and dedication has certainly paid off.

Your child was given a letter to bring home on Monday afternoon, regarding this years class photographs.
 
For data protection reasons, we need consent from parents/carers for your child to have their photograph taken and for that image to be sold to other parents/carers/relatives of children within their year group.
 
IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE THE CONSENT SLIP BACK BY TUESDAY 18 JUNE 2019 YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ON THE GROUP PHOTOGRAPH.
 
In previous years, all children have had their photograph taken without consent needed. Due to GDPR this is no longer the case, and any children without consent will not be photographed.
