Anzac Day

2nd May 2019S Office

On Thursday 25th April 2019, members of our School Council took part in an Anzac Day Service at Kirkpatricks Statue in South Shields. They laid a wreath and along with other schools, read out the poem, Flanders Fields.

Afterwards, the children were invited to join the Mayor for lunch at the Town Hall, which they really enjoyed. The children were very well behaved and a credit to the school.

South Tyneside Schools’ Tennis Finals 2019

30th April 2019A Rogers

We have had a tremendous success in WINNING the South Tyneside Tennis Finals, held at Boldon LTA  today and thus defending our title from 2017 & 2018.

Our 8 fantastic tennis players won 20, drew 4 and lost just 8 of their matches. Their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and determination to succeed has certainly paid off.

They were winners with a total of 8.5 points, 2nd were Biddick Hall A 8 points and 3rd were East Boldon 6.5 points.

They, alongside our Athletics Team will now compete in the Tyne and Wear County Finals on June 27th at Silksworth Sports Complex in Sunderland.

A tremendous achievement. I’m simply delighted and  proud of each and every child involved. Congratulations!

Spring Term 100% Attendance Reward

29th April 2019S Office

We are aware that it is coming up to ‘holiday season’ and we strongly advise that children attend school and have holidays in the allocated weeks. Holiday requests into school will be declined.

Last year we had 96.2% attendance which is above the national average. We constantly strive to better our yearly record and by doing this we have attendance rewards.

A big well done to all of the children who received 100% attendance in the Spring Term. We had a total of 61 children!! 💯 As a reward the children had an afternoon of magic! The children were amazed by some of the fantastic tricks and twists throughout the afternoon. The children were in Reception/KS1 and KS2 groups giving the perfect show for their age range. There was laughter all around!

We hope that the Summer Term has even more children with 100% attendance! ☀️

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TH EASTER FAIR

2nd April 2019S Office

Easter Fair information:

The main gates (Gresford Street) will be open at 9.55am – 10.15am to collect your child from their classroom. Please then walk around and enter the school via the main entrance.

Children are then able to browse the fair with parents/carers and then go home.

Any children who do not have a parent/carer able to escort them around the fair, this will be done by a member of staff. Any children left in school will be provided with a bag lunch and can be collected at 3.15pm from the MAIN ENTRANCE.

Due to an estimated low number of children remaining in school after the fair, the main gates on Gresford Street will NOT be open.

DUE TO SETTING UP THE EASTER FAIR, THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB ON THURSDAY 4 APRIL 2019. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE COLLECTED FROM SCHOOL AT 3.15PM.

Thank you 🐥🐣🍰

Tyne and Wear Netball Finals 2019

28th March 2019A Rogers

CONGRATULATIONS to our SUPERB Netball team who were today crowned TYNE AND WEAR COUNTY CHAMPIONS!!

I am so proud of the 7 pupils, who have put in lots of hours training for this event. They were exceptional with great passing, footwork, interceptions and team spirit demonstrated throughout each and every game. They remained undefeated in the competition and were invincible.

They combined together to win all 6 group games beginning with Hill View (Sunderland) winning 5-1 with Aston scoring 3, as well as Beth and Brooke with 1 a piece. Next up was the Royal Grammar School (Newcastle) winning 4-2 with Aston scoring 2, along with Charlie and Layla 1 goal each. The third match was against Gosforth East Middle School (Newcastle), who eventually finished 4th overall. We won 5-1 with Beth and Brooke scoring 2 goals and Layla 1. We then faced Portobello (Gateshead) winning again 8-0, Beth and Brooke with 3 goals, along with Aston’s 2. The penultimate group game was against our friendly rivals from South Tyneside, St. Aloysius. Here we won 6-0 Layla, Charlie and Sophie scoring 2 goals each. The final group game was against Christ Church (North Shields) where we won our 6th game 5-0 Beth scoring 2, with Layla and Brooke scoring 1 goals each.

Therefore we were group 1 winners and progressed to the gold medal match, facing Hotspur (Newcastle) in the final. It was a really tough game, however our skill and determination pulled us through to a 5-3 victory!

We were all overjoyed to be the winners and gold medalists. It truly is an amazing achievements for our pupils and school, in such a short space of time to have such tremendous success. Not only that, but other schools commented on our friendliness, caring attitude and sportsmanship which is a delight to hear and see from such wonderful role models. Alongside this many schools, including St. Aloysius and Mortimer stayed to support our team which was gratefully received and lovely to have.

Well done to the seven superstars! As I always say – hard work really does pay off!

Congratulations once again!

Mr Rogers

School Meals

25th March 2019S Office

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

It has came to our attention particularly from Year 6 parents that the kitchen at Stanhope Primary School is inadequate. We would like to confirm this is NOT true.

Last week, the kitchen received its regular inspection from Environmental Health. For many years now we have had a rating of 5. This is the HIGHEST rating possible – it has been confirmed from the Catering Team that the rating has REMAINED at 5.

All of our kitchen staff, who have many years experience, are employed by South Tyneside Council who have provided outstanding training and food hygiene skills which are followed precisely when preparing, handling and serving food.

We will not accept slanderous rumours regarding the cleanliness of our school kitchen. Not only are these rumours untrue, they could tarnish our reputation as a school.

If any parents or carers have any concerns regarding the school meals, please contact school directly or Elizabeth Luke (Catering Team).
