Year 6 celebrate VE Day

On Thursday 21st December, Year 6 took part a fun filled day celebrating the end of World War Two. On arrival at school, the children were given evacuee packs with their evacuation labels, a letter from home, a photograph of a loved one and their treasured toy/teddy.

 

Throughout the morning in the hall, the children enjoyed playing a variety of games including: Red Rover, What’s the Time Mr Wolf, Musical Statues and Musical Bumps. Back in the classroom, Year 6 played games of bingo and even participated in a Beetle Drive.

 

On the afternoon, a street party was held where the children tasted a range of foods and enjoyed the end to their VE Day celebrations.

Foundation Stage 1 and 2 Christmas Party

The children from Foundation Stage 1 and 2 have spent yesterday afternoon dancing away to their favourite Christmas songs. They have taken part in Christmas themed party games and then enjoyed their goodie bags which included a hot dog, drink, crisps, chocolate lolly and a candy cane!

The children are well and truly in the Christmas spirit!

Santa comes to Stanhope Primary School!

Santa Claus took time out of his busy schedule to visit the children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2. He told them all about the preparations for Christmas and warned them to continue to be good. He said is was checking his list (twice). The children asked about the naughty elves and Santa told them that they were very mischievous! He bought all the children an early Christmas present. They all sang songs and thanked Santa.

The children in reception found the Bethlehem stars inside and outside of the classroom. They made a list with all of the words they found on their journey.

Year 5 – Life cycles

Year 5 have been learning about life cycles and metamorphosis. They looked at the life cycle of a butterfly and found that it consists of four stages. This is a complete metamorphosis. They made life cycle wheels to show this.
