Halloween Week Y5

By A Rogers3rd November 2017

Year 5 have had a great week.  They really got into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween on Tuesday 31st and came to school dressed in their scariest outfits ready for their Halloween party.

One of the children very kindly made gifts with her lovely mam for the whole class.  The children were very grateful.
On Wednesday afternoon we were joined by the gentlemen from the British Legion who explained about the importance of the Poppy on Remembrance Day.  Their bugler played different tunes including the Last Post.  It was very interesting and we learned a lot.
On Thursday morning PC Sheriff came into school to explain to the children about the Age of Responsibility and how to keep safe when out and about during Bonfire season.  The children asked lots of questions and enjoyed the session.

All of our children, performed well, working hard and demonstrating great determination.

Another highlight was Alexa Reid (Y4) who paced her race well to finish in 3rd place, finishing strongly and catching the leaders. She was ably supported by early leader Shari Viney (Y4), who faded to finish a wonderful 4th too.

Year 6 – Pizza Express

By T Capon30th October 2017

On Thursday 19th October 2017 Year 6 visited Pizza Express in Newcastle. They got the chance to make their very own pizza’s! The children had a brilliant time.. and even got to take their own pizza’s home for tea!

On arrival, they were given a guided tour of the restaurant and then all the fun began. As junior chefs, they tossed their pizzas into the perfect shape. A huge dollop of tomato sauce was added and the base was topped with cubes of mozzarella cheese. While waiting for the pizzas to cook, the children participated in a pizza related quiz. There were 27 happy faces as the children carried their pizzas on the metro on the journey back to school.

A big thank you to Pizza Express Newcastle for inviting the children.
