A Surprise from Bob

6th November 2019S Office
On Tuesday morning, the children in Year 2 were shocked to discover a mysterious sack in the middle of the classroom. Inside were 26 letters for each of the pupils in Year 2. Everyone opened their envelopes to discover a letter from Bob, who is a character from the book ‘Man on the Moon’. Last month, the children each wrote a letter to Bob to ask him a range of questions about his life on the moon.
All of the children were thrilled with their letters and have taken them home to share with parents and carers.
What a morning full of surprises!

Library Relaunch!!

4th November 2019S Office
Relaunching our library
On Thursday in assembly, we relaunched our school library with the children. Over the past few weeks, the library has had a little revamp so the books are more accessible to the children. For the year groups, the books are grouped into topics, authors as well as genres, which allows the children to choose their library book with ease. Brand new books have also been added to the baskets for the children to borrow and return.
Children in Year 4 and 5 will be offered the opportunity to become a librarian. They will be responsible for keeping the library organised and tidy.

South Shields Town Hall Visit

21st October 2019S Office

Miss Coils and three children from school visited the Town Hall last week to learn about democracy.  They were told a story about Staryland, where their people needed help to elect a new leader.  The children discussed which qualities they looked for in a good leader and heard the candidates speeches in the council chambers.  Every child was then given the opportunity to vote at an actual polling booth, with ballot papers and a ballot box.  It was a tense few moments waiting for the votes to be verified and counted. Damon, James and Ruby sat with their fingers crossed hoping the candidate they voted for would be elected.  To their delight it was indeed Sally Shoestring who was crowned the new leader of Staryland!

We did it!!!

14th October 2019S Office

Congratulations! We’ve done it – we have completed our SECOND chart (300 stickers). 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳😁😁😁

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, but please keep on bringing in more stickers as we have ordered a further poster to complete and have just less than a month to fill it. I know we can do it 😁👍

As you are aware, Aldi UK have teamed up with the 2020 Olympics and are giving schools the chance to win £20,000!

Please continue to collect the stickers from your local Aldi UK and bring them into school to stick on the chart!
