Summer Milk

By S Office14th March 2018

Today your child will receive a letter in regards to ordering Summer Term milk. If you require your child to have milk when they return after the easter break, It is very important that all letters and money are returned within the deadline stated on the letter.

The cost of milk for the Summer Term is £9.10. The is from the first day back after Easter, until the last day before the summer holidays.

If you are in receipt of benefits and your child receives free school meals, milk will automatically be ordered for them – this does NOT include free meals through the government scheme for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

Year 4 – Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens

By T Capon13th March 2018

On Monday 12th March 2018, the children in Year 4 visited Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. The children had a chance to explore the ‘Rain forest’ in the Winter Gardens and had to find all of the answers within the garden to complete their worksheets. They then had a look around the rest of the museum.

After lunch the children then a drawing workshop and went back into the Winter Garden and found different leaves to draw and add colour using oil pastels. Over all the children had a wonderful time and were as usual exceptionally well behaved.

Well done Year 4!

World Book Day 2018 – Year 1

By T Capon9th March 2018

This week in English we have been reading the book, “Ten ways to Save Our World”. This is a non-fiction book which has taught us all about recycling! We had lots of questions about how we could recycle, so we used to I Pads to do some research. We made notes and today we have made our own posters using all of the boxes, cartons and recycle things you kindly sent in from home. Here are some of our posters.
Yesterday Year 1 celebrated World Book Day. Thank goodness it wasn’t snowed off! We read Mrs Barker’s favourite book, “What the Ladybird Heard Next” and Mrs. Hasan’s, “The Gruffalo.”
Then we thought of all our favourite story characters and made a bookmark to take home. We had a little competition and were so proud of all the children’s efforts, that they all got a treat. However Gracie and Jacob received an extra “dip in the box” for fantastic work. Well done everyone!

World Book Day 2018 – Year 5

By S Office9th March 2018

For World Book Day, the children in Year 5 took part in a number of activities. They brought books in to share with their friends, read their favourite books in class and shared their books with the children in Year 2. The class were very impressed with the reading skills of the younger readers! Year 5 also designed a book token as part of a national competition. Good Luck Year 5.

STRATEGY LAUNCH

Just a reminder of our Strategy Launch on 13th March at the Town Hall south Shields 12-2pm. Lunch and refreshments are being provided. This is a meeting to introduce you, our members to our strategy that the local authority has wrote in consultation with us. Alongside this we will be talking about the new Ranges in schools, which is our new graduated response system and how this may effect your child. The ranges are being used in ALL schools Mainstream and Specialist.

We, the steering group will be hosting the day but representatives from the Local Authority will also be there to answer questions and present the strategy in true co-production style.

Please do come along and see what we have been doing and what the local authority have pledged to our children and their families. You do not need to be an official member of stronger together, your child does not need to have an Education Health Care Plan or even a diagnosis for you to come along.

It’s a free event that we are putting on so please come and show your support and see the plans we would really love to hear your comments.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible NEXT TUESDAY.

The next two weeks are Fair Trade Fortnight! Year 3 learned more about Fair Trade and why it is important to communities in countries around the world. They learned about different Fair Trade products and the importance of farmers receiving a fair price. The children were asked to design chocolate packaging and a chocolate bar that could be sold as a Fair Trade product. They were asked to write labels explaining why they had incorporated colours and certain symbols in their design.

Reception – Forest School

By T Capon7th March 2018
Every Monday children in reception take part in forest school activities. Last term it was the turn of Red and Pink group. We have been observing the changes in the forest school, jumping in muddy puddles, measuring sticks and looking for minibeasts. Woodlice are our favourite creatures, we find them under the damp wood.We researched woodlice when we returned to class to find out a little bit more about them.

Reception – Multiskills

By T Capon7th March 2018

The reception class had a fantastic time at the multiskills festival at Temple park. We travelled by minibus to the event, where we took part in lots of different activities including dodge ball, basketball, tennis and gymnastic. We returned to school in time for lunch a little tired but excited to try out our new skills.

World Book Day 2018

By T Capon5th March 2018

As you are aware, World Book Day 2018 was Thursday 1st March 2018. Due to weather conditions, Stanhope Primary School was closed on World Book Day, therefore we have decided to host it this Thursday (8th March) instead.

We would have deep regrets if the children lost out on the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book author/character!

We can’t wait to see all of your wonderful costumes!
