Stanhope Primary School supports Sports Relief!

By T Capon5th March 2018

From Monday 19th March 2018 – Friday 23rd March 2018 Stanhope Primary School will be taking part in a range of activities to raise money for Sports Relief. These activities include:

  • 15 minutes extra exercise per day.
  • Children will take part in a sponsored run a ‘mile’ on Friday 23 March on the school field.
  • On Wednesday 21 March, there is a sports themed lunch and the children will have a visit from a leading Quorn rep to promote healthy eating.
  • Sports Relief wristband sale (School Hub at break times – £1.00 each)
  • Non uniform day on Friday 23 March 2018 (Sports themed – £1.00 per child)

All children will need their trainers in school all week to take part in running activities.

All money raised will go to Sports Relief however, to raise even more money, Stanhope’s ‘Mile’ run on Friday 23 March will be a sponsored run. Attached to this letter is a sponsor form – it would be much appreciated if you were to pass this onto family and friends to raise as much money as possible.

We really appreciate your support and hope that you’ll have fun helping our school raise as much money as we can for Sports Relief 2018!

South Tyneside Netball Finals

1st March 2018A Rogers

Yesterday evening our 7 budding netballers played in the South Tyneside Finals at Whitburn CofE Academy.

They, along with the 4 other qualifying teams played some wonderful matches resulting in us being declared CHAMPIONS of South Tyneside and thus progressing to the Tyne and Wear County Finals, to be held on March 29th.

The children Captained by Charlie Bates won their first game, comfortably winning 3-0 against St.Oswald’s Hebburn. They then played Mr Rogers’ former school St. Aloysius winning 3-1. In their third game, despite having most of the possession they won a close match against Biddick Hall Juniors. Then in the final match, with the pressure off the team, unlucky not to score some of their attempts were narrowly defeated by Mortimer.

Congratulations to the team including: Aston Hall, Sahib Basra, Maddison Fontaine, Erika Judd, Brooke Urwin & Beth Thompson. We wish you lots of luck in the County Finals later this month.

Royal Audience for Emily

By A Rogers27th February 2018

Emily Veitch last week attended the royal opening at the Old Fire Station in Sunderland.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Emily after being recognised for her invention, firstly as part of the Winter Gardens exhibition, and then at this event.  The attending groups had been chosen personally by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge themselves as they wished to meet these children from the region.

Emily was one of 3 little inventors who attended; the 2 other children. She represented Stanhope Primary proudly as a pupil. Emily was  the first little inventor to speak to the Duke and Duchess,  which she did considerably well holding conversation with both William and Kate and the Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear.

It goes without saying that we are extremely proud of Emily – Congratulations, what a wonderful memory.
