On Tuesday 30th January 2018, small group of children from Year 5 visited Mortimer Comprehensive to take part in Change 4 Life activities. The children have been chosen to be Change 4 Life leaders.
The children will visit again on another two occasions to learn different skills and knowledge on how to promote a healthier lifestyle.
The first visit was a massive success!
On Wednesday 7th February 2018 Stanhope Primary School hosted its FIRST EVER Healthy Breakfast morning.. and what a success! We raised a total of £388!!!!
A massive thank you to all parents/carers who came in and had breakfast with their children and supported this cause. All of the proceedings go towards attendance and well being based initiatives in school.
Of course, this wouldn’t of gone ahead without the organisation from Mrs Thompson so a big thank you to her and all other staff who helped on the day!
As it was such a success, this is something we hope to do again in the future!!
This morning the children in Year 4 have took part in Bikeability. This is a cycling training programme provided by South Tyneside Council. The children had a wonderful time and will receive their certificates very soon.
Well done Year 4!!
As part of British Values Week, Mrs Wright and Mrs Boardman joined forces to teach Year 5 about Rules and Laws in our country. We discussed why we have laws and looked at some of the different laws that have been passed in our country to date. We also looked at the consequences of not following these laws and the different types of courts that look at different cases to do with civil and criminal law. The children then created their own list of laws deciding which were the most important to them. It was very interesting hearing the children’s ideas such as no violence, no smoking, no animal cruelty, no driving with mobile phones, no harassment and no using offensive language to name a few! Some good debates and ideas. Well done Year 5!
This week our four Change 4 Life Champions, Charlie, Aston, Lexi and Beth attended their very first training session at Mortimer Community School. They shared ideas with children from other schools and discussed what makes a good leader. They were a credit to Stanhope and they are all really looking forward to the next session.
Yesterday, Year 6 created their own Pop Art inspired pieces of work. Having previously created a mood board of ideas, the children sketched their own onomatopoeia picture. Using a variety of key colours, the children worked extremely hard to produce their final piece. It was definitely clear that the children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon of painting – it was a good job they were wearing aprons.
The Pop Art will be displayed in the school hall for everyone to see.
Eight Stanhope children have been selected to represent South Tyneside against other Districts in the Sportshall Athletics County Finals on Saturday 24th February!
Congratulations to Charlie Bates, Haiden Jones, Josh Henry, Marc Shone, Brooke Urwin, Katie Williamson, Erika Judd and Maddison Fontaine.
What a wonderful achievement after great success already in winning the South Tyneside Finals and finishing 5th in the Tyne and Wear County Finals
I can’t wait to see you perform. Best of luck!
