Tyne and Wear County Sportshall Athletics Finals 2020

Brilliant Bronze for Sportshall Athletics team at the Tyne and Wear County Finals!

Today 25 children from Y3-6 competed at Temple Park Leisure Centre in the Tyne and Wear County Sportshall Athletics Finals.

Having qualified to represent South Tyneside when winning the previous round (for the third year in succession) in November 2019 the children competed fiercely against very talented pupils from across the county.
The children have practiced diligently and with great determination for many months, both in school at break times and lunchtimes, as well as after-school too. Their commitment has been second-to-none.
At the end of the event, when the scores of the pupils within each team were totalled, our Team were announced as BONZE MEDALISTS. Wellfield Middle School were 2nd and Kings crowned CHAMPIONS.

There were some impressive performances, with great potential for future years demonstrated too.

South Tyneside Sportshall Athletics Finals 2019

CONGRATULATIONS! Our wonderful Athletics team WON the South Tyneside Sportshall Athletics Finals today at Temple Park – they were truly outstanding.

They combined together to compete in jumping, throwing, agility and sprint events culminating in a brilliant overall team GOLD medal.

Words cannot express how proud I am of the children – their hard work and dedication, along with great determination has allowed them to continue to grow and develop as great athletes this year.

It was a wonderful moment for all of the children when we were announced as winners (defending our title from 2017 & 2018) – a much deserved success.

We won a tremendous 9/13 girls events and 11/13 boys events!

Quadkids Tyne and Wear Finals 2019

TYNE AND WEAR COUNTY FINALS 2019
Yesterday we had great success in the Tyne and Wear County School Games Finals at Silksworth, Sunderland.
Cassie was crowned County Y3/4 CHAMPION for Quadkids Athletics – an amazing achievement. Her talent was clear to see as she shone brightly in all 4 events.
Her Y3/4 Quadkids team mates excelled to win BRONZEt!
Our Y5/6 Quadkids team finished 4th, agonisingly close to gaining a medal.
Finally, our Y4 Tennis team played well to win 11 matches, but unfortunately did not progress beyond the group stages.
Well done to all 29 pupils who represented our school yesterday.
I’m very proud of each and everyone of you.

Quadkids South Tyneside Y3/4 Finals 2019

Congratulations to our 20 budding athletes had a great day at the Quadkids Finals, where they ran, jumped and threw there way to scoring many points for the team.

We are the Y3/4 South Tyneside Quadkids CHAMPIONS!!

The A Team finished in 1st place and will now compete in the Tyne and Wear County Finals on June 27th.

The B Team finished a creditable 10th from 40 Teams.

Well Done to Cassie 1st Girl Overall, Given 2nd Boy Overall and Ruby 3rd Girl Overall.

South Tyneside Sportshall Athletics Y3/4 Finals 2019

Congratulations to our wonderful 19 Y3/4 Athletes who were resounding winners at the South Tyneside Finals at Temple Park today.
The team won numerous events. The Boys won 8 events out of 12 and the Girls won 9 out of the 12 events – Fabulous! Overall when the final results were announced we were victorious by a massive 90 points.
Individual Winners (Girls) – Ruby = Vertical Jump 48cm, Faye = Chest Push 5.50m, Cassie  = Speed Bounce 51 repetitions.
Individual Winners (Boys) – Riley = Javelin 15.50m, Munib = 5 Strides 8.50m, Given = Speed Bounce 55 repetitions.
Their hard work and practice certainly paid off – they were outstanding. I am so, so proud of each and every one of you.
Also a special mention to our assistant coaches Charlie and Aston who were a wonderful support to the younger members of the school sports teams.

Scintilating Silver for Sportshall Athletics team at the Tyne and Wear County Finals!

Today 23 children from Y4-6 competed at Temple Park Leisure Centre in the Tyne and Wear County Sportshall Athletics Finals.

Having qualified to represent South Tyneside when winning the previous round in November 2018 the children competed fiercely against very talented pupils from across the county.

At the end of the event, when the scores of the pupils within each team were totalled, our Team were announced as RUNNERS-UP. Gosforth Central Middle School (winners for the previous 3 years) were THIRD and Kings crowned CHAMPIONS.

There were some impressive performances, with great potential for future years demonstrated too.

Quadkids Tyne and Wear Finals 2018

Two teams from Stanhope qualified for the County Summer School Games Finals at Silksworth Sports Complex. We had a team in the Y3/4 Tennis and the Y3/4 Athletics competitions. It was a joy to see all of our pupils working so hard, enjoying the competition and being wonderful sports.

At the beginning of the day, the children listened to an inspirational speech by Team GB Olympian Montell Douglas. She spoke about his great journey to becoming an Olympian, after overcoming serious injury problems. Montell encouraged the children to ‘aim high and reach higher’.

In the Y3/4 Athletics, The team finished a magnificent 6th. A great result. A superb platform to build upon going into 2018-19 season.

Quadkids Athletics South Tyneside Finals 2018 Y3/4

Congratulations to our Y3/4 Athletics Teams who competed fantastically today at Monkton Stadium.

Congratulations to our Athletics Teams, in particular our Y3/4 A Team who finished 2nd.

They will now represent South Tyneside at the Tyne & Wear Level 3 School Games Finals that are taking place on Thursday 28th June  (10:00am-3:00pm) at Silksworth Sports Complex.

Alexa Reid was the highest individually place Stanhope athlete, finishing 3rd, with Ruby Sharp finishing in 4th place. Jack Reah and Given Mbila finished in 8th place, to be the highest placed boys from Stanhope.

Good luck to the 10 children in the County Finals!

Quadkids Athletics South Tyneside Finals 2018 Y5/6

Congratulations to our Y5/6 Athletics Teams who competed fantastically today in very warm conditions at Monkton Stadium.

Unfortunately by just 34 point they missed out on qualifying for the Tyne and Wear Finals – finishing 4th (A Team) and 14th (B Team).

Brooke Urwin was the highest individually place Stanhope athlete, finishing 2nd for the second consecutive year! Maddison Fontaine also finished in 6th. Josh Henry finished in 13th place, to be the highest placed boy.

Our Y5/6 team performed well to finish in 8th place overall.
