National Fitness Day
On Wednesday 23 September 2020, the rain did not stop Stanhope Primary celebrating National Fitness Day. The day not only brought the nation together, but also our school to remind us why it’s good to move, highlighting the role that physical activity plays in helping us lead healthier, happier lives both physically and mentally.
Reception – look at us keeping fit by dancing our socks off!
Year 1 had fun keeping fit with Jump Start Jonny today. They all whipped up their workout and stretched their muscles.
Year 2 completed 10 star jumps, 10 hops, 10 jumps and 10 laps of the MUGA.
Year 3 did a mini fitness class consisting of 10 x star jumps, 10 x squats, 10 seconds running on the spot and 10 seconds arm circles.
Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed participating on star jumps, side steps, high knee jogging on the spot and playing the bean game. Unfortunately, the weather was against us most of the day which led to a change in plans but we managed to get outside for a short time with a little drizzle. We had great fun.
Year 5 completed 10 minutes of a fitness routine designed for children. They did stretches, cardio exercises and strengthening exercises.
Year 6 got competitive and challenged each other on speed and agility, making fitness fun.
Year 6 and Year 2 also had a fun fitness PE lesson with Miss Conway in the hall, the music was loud and there were lots of red faces 🙂
All of our children finished their lunchtime by doing a Yoga Breathing exercise. This helped our children to be calm and ready for their afternoon of learning.

Fantastic effort everyone!
