Congratulations to our ‘tremendous ten’ who have qualified for the NATIONAL DODGEBALL FINALS in Nottingham (July 2020)!!
They faced stiff competition and played fantastically well to finish as Runners-Up to Sunnyside Academy (Middlesbrough), losing 9-3 in a closely fought final.
The team worked well together to have some wonderfully accurate shots, great catches and really impressive communication too. We are so proud of you all and your fantastic achievement.
They will compete against 19 other schools from all over Great Britain. Therefore we will certainly have lots more training and practice sessions ahead of us.
Third were St. Aloysius R.C. Federation (Hebburn).
Further details with regards to the finals will be sent to parents in due course.
Congratulations once again!
Mr Rogers.
Fantastic Four get ‘call up’ to represent Tyne and Wear County!
Four Stanhope children have been selected to represent Tyne and Wear against other Counties in the Sportshall Athletics Regional Finals on March 28th at Temple Park Leisure Centre!
Congratulations to these 4 boys.
What a wonderful achievement. We are very proud of you all.
I can’t wait to see you perform. Best of luck!
Mr Rogers
Today our Netball Team competed at Temple Park in the South Tyneside Finals.
We played really well, beating St. Matthew’s 2-0 and Westoe Crown 2-1, before losing 1-0 to Hebburn Lakes, 5-1 to Lord Blyton and 5-1 to Mortimer.
We finished 4thoverall and have now qualified for the Tyne and Wear County Finals on March 28th.
Well done to the Team!! 🥈😃
On Friday 7th February our 7 remaining A Team pupils competed in the Hoops4Health Finals at the Community Arena, Newcastle. It was wonderful to watch the North Stand of Sport Central steadily filling up with 50 members excited families, staff and friends from Stanhope. This was lovely to see our community, getting behind the team in a big finals event! Our players were really motivated to play in front of so much support, and give their very best.
The Stanhope team took to the court for the first semi-final against St. Bede’s RC S/S, the defending champions. We immediately started positively, as we passed the ball around confidently. A flowing team move saw us nearly take an early lead with Given taking a fine lay up effort. This was met by a fantastic roar from the Stanhope support! We then went on to have a number of near misses, before St. Bede’s scored. The team bounced back with a great shot scored by Riley, who’s celebration was a joy to see. With the scores tied the play was frantic from end to end. Sadly St. Bede’s managed to score to lead 2-1. Unfortunately this was the way the game ended. A devastating loss for our hard working team – they gave their all and I’m sure they will bounce back to winning ways soon.
The final took place at half-time in the Eagles game, in a front of a great crowd: St. Bede’s RC S/S took on Biddick Hall Juniors winning 1-0.
Well done to the skillful and dedicated players who had all trained outside with such commitment in the build up to the finals throughout a cold, icy and wet December and January.
Finally, a big thank you to the outstanding school community, for your support on a memorable sporting occasion for our school. We will be back even better, more determined and stronger once again next year!
Safer Internet Week 2020
This year, Stanhope Primary School are educating, celebrating and promoting Safer Internet use for a whole week, week beginning Monday 3rd February 2020.
What is E-Safety?
This can also be called ‘internet safety’, ‘online safety’ or ‘web safety’. E-safety is often defined as the safe and responsible use of technology. This includes the use of the internet and other means of communication using electronic media (eg text messages, gaming devices, email etc).
It is important that we equip children with the skills they need to keep themselves safe so they can experience the internet positively and responsibly.
During Safer Internet Week we wanted to reinforce this message to the children.
Safety rules:
Don’t talk to strangers (in real life or on the internet)
Always tell an adult if you don’t like something.
Never give out any details on the internet.
Play games for your age.
Guidance at home
Parents and Guardians play an essential role in supporting children in learning about how to stay safe online. Please find a number of links to provide you with the relevant guidance to help support your child.
