South Tyneside Cross Country Finals 2019

8th November 2019A Rogers

Yesterday 31 pupils from KS2 competed at Temple Park Leisure Centre in the South Tyneside Cross Country Finals.

Each child completed in their respective year group events, comprising of between 60 and 80 children from various schools in the borough.

All of our children, performed well, working hard and demonstrating great determination.

Outstanding performers were:

Alexa (Y6) who was a convincing winner, leading from the start and growing stronger competition, by competition. Keep it up!

Bobby (Y3) was never headed in his race, storming to victory. A great talent for the future!

Ruby G (Y3) also finished in 3rd place with a great run to win the bronze medal.

Other Top 10 finishers included:
Ruby (Y3) 5th, Cassie (Y5) 6th, Jordan (Y4) 10th & Ruby (Y5) 10th.

The Y3 Girls and Year 6 Girls Teams were both winners of their age categories which is fantastic for them as it was, for some of them, their first competition representing Stanhope.

The Y4 Boys were 2nd and Y3 Boys 3rd in their team categories.

The Y4 Girls and Y5 Girls were 7th, Y5 Boys 8th and Y6 Boys finished 9th.

We therefore finished as 5th overall team scoring 421 points.

I am so proud of all of you. Every mile counts…🎖😁

Jarrow & Hebburn A.C. Cross Country 2019

20th October 2019A Rogers

Today we had an extremely wet and cold experience, but it was wonderful to see 20 talented Stanhope runners represented, some of which for the very first time. It was highly enjoyable at Bedeswell Park in Jarrow.

Thank you to all of those pupils and parents who made the effort to attend in such inclement weather – great dedication shown.

There were some great performances – it was fantastic to see the children giving their all despite the rain, wind and muddy conditions.

Our super squad of runners will continue to practise hard for the forthcoming South Tyneside Schools’ Finals on November 7th at Temple Park.

CONGRATULATIONS to our medallists:

1st Y5 Girl School – Cassie Howard

1st Y6 Girl School – Alexa Reid

2nd Y6 Girl School – Shari Viney

3rd Y5 Girl School – Ruby Sharp

Year 6 Leavers

10th July 2019A Rogers

Today our Y6 pupils enjoyed their final trip, from 5 days worth of various visits.

We started the day at the wonderfully captivating Victoria Tunnel in Newcastle. We met Basil an 89 year old evacuee who spoke to the pupils, then we ventured into the tunnels.

From here we had a sun filled lunch at the Quayside, followed by a tour of the Baltic, then we experienced the viewing gallery and completed our own bridges inspired art work.

Enjoy your 2 days at your secondary schools. Mr Rogers

Basketball Regional Finals 2019

5th July 2019A Rogers
Our superbly talented Y6 Basketball Team today competed in Newcastle reaching the Semi Finals!
They were undefeated in the group stages stringing together an impressive run of results. They won 16-6 vs Gosforth East Middle School, 16-0 vs King Edwards, 18-4 vs. St John’s, 18-8 vs. Glynwood B and 18-2 vs. Mortimer Primary to advance to the final 16 teams in the tournament.
Here they beat Gosforth Junior Academy 4-0 to proceed to the Quarter Finals. In a tense match they battled through to win 4-0 vs. Wellfield Primary.
In the Semi Finals, in what was an extremely physical match we unfortunately lost 2-0 vs. Glynwood Primary School A Team.
Congratulations to the team, who were sadly representing Stanhope for the final time. It has been a pleasure over the last 3 years to watch you all develop skills, competitiveness, sportsmanship and flourish to become wonderfully talented pupils and athletes. I’ve been privileged to lead you to many events and see this.
I truly am so proud of you and all of the pupils who represent our school. They are a credit to Stanhope.
Congratulations once again. Mr Rogers.

Year 6 – The Elephant Thief

2nd July 2019A Rogers
This year we have thoroughly enjoyed reading Jane Kerr’s wonderful story of Danny and Marharaja on their journey to Belle Vue in Manchester.
The Elephant Thief has captivated us so much that we decided to write to the author herself.
Today we received personalised letters answering our own individual questions from Jane! We are astounded by this gesture. A lovely memento to keep.
