Year 5 have had a Christmassy afternoon after the Christmas lunch making their calendars. They are beautiful and individual! We love them! 🏻

Year 5 have been learning about square numbers in Maths. On Monday, we created squares using multi link and discussed what makes a square number. Today we have done some fluency work to show an understanding of what we have learned so far and practised our Maths skills. Ask your child to tell you the square numbers we have learned about and what a square number is?

Year 5 have recently been investigating regular and irregular shapes in Maths. Ask your child what they know about the regular and irregular shapes.

As part of their Science topic ‘forces’, Year 5 explored the effect of gravity on falling objects.

World Science Day
After thinking of Scientific questions, Year 5 were introduced to the importance of Science in our world today. We gave the children some names of important job roles in the Science world.

The children were then tasked to match the scientist to their appropriate image. They then researched and learned about their scientist’s role in the development of Science across the world. To finish we created posters imagining that one of the Scientists was coming to give a talk at our school, showing what we had learned.

Year 5 have been learning the ‘Bus stop method,’ of division today using Numicon as a concrete resource to support their understanding. They really enjoyed the lesson and worked well collaboratively using the Numicon to work out their calculations. Well done Year 5!

Year 5 have enjoyed finding out about daily life in Ancient Greece. They researched using books, iPads and information sheets.
