Year 4 started the week with a shared story called ‘Something Else’. This was the name given to a creature by his ‘friends’. We shared our feelings and thoughts.
‘It doesn’t matter what we look like but what’s inside that counts’, Skye
‘We all have different hair colours, eye colours, skin colours’, Hasan
‘We have different likes and dislikes; personalities’, James
‘We have different jobs, religions and family members’, Harjan
‘We are all different. If we were all the same, it would be boring’ Lillie R
We enjoyed a range of activities this week, particularly making and eating our fruit kebabs!
Year 5 have been debating and learning about stereotypes related to gender. It was interesting to discuss with the class what the children think boys and girls should like and what professions certain genders should do. We read the story ‘I’m a girl,’ which opened up discussions about how just because your a certain gender doesn’t mean you have to behave in a particular way or like certain things. We discussed how it might make us feel if someone said something about our personality in a negative way due to our gender. The children made handprints to celebrate their differences and what makes them special as their own person. ‘We are us!’ and that makes us amazing no matter what we like or what we do!
Due to coronavirus, people are spending more time online this year. This means more opportunities for hackers to carry out cyber attacks.
This guide from NCSC has some great tips for personal safety.
Today we have had a wonderful success in WINNING the South Tyneside Tennis Finals, held at Boldon LTA.
Our 8 fantastic tennis players won 27, drew 3 and lost just 2 of their matches. Their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and determination to succeed has certainly paid off.
They were resounding winners having done superbly in their challenges too, 2nd were Lord Blyton and 3rd Mortimer.
It is a tremendous achievement. Well done to all of the pupils, I am so proud of you all. Congratulations!
