Today the sun shone brightly on our children competing in our annual School Games Day. They were fantastic and did themselves proud in the 9 events earning points for their House. At the end of the competition only 1 point separated 1st and 2nd place.

In Year 2, the children are currently learning all about the artist Henri Rousseau in their Art lessons. On Friday, the children created their own Rousseau inspired piece of Artwork using key colours and shading.
On Monday, the children in Year 2 have been making their own animal puppets. Over the term, the children have designed an animal and have followed their design to create their felt puppet. Every child has worked hard to use their sewing skills to make their final product.
On Tuesday morning, the children in Year 2 were checking calculations. They were working in pairs to solve the calculations involving addition and subtraction. The children used a range of practical resources as well as mental strategies.






Year 2 have been making their own rain makers as part of their Aboriginal Art topic. The children needed to follow a set of instructions to make their rain maker. They loved the papier-mâché part of the lesson – it was very messy!
Next week, the children will be painting their rain makers in their last Art lesson of this half term.
On Thursday, Year 2 have really enjoyed their Art lesson.
The children are learning all about Aboriginal Art this half term. Today, they were creating paintings using the Aboriginal dot design.



Computing
On Monday afternoon, Year 2 enjoyed their weekly Computing lesson. The children were learning how to log in successfully onto the laptops and they were shown how to access stanhopeprimary.com. Everyone worked hard throughout the lesson.
Maths
On Friday morning, the children in Year 2 were practising their quick fire addition skills. They love playing this game on Hit the Button. The children want to beat Miss Haygarth’s score of 39.
