National Fitness Day

29th September 2020Cheryl Henderson

National Fitness Day

On Wednesday 23 September 2020, the rain did not stop Stanhope Primary celebrating National Fitness Day. The day not only brought the nation together, but also our school to remind us why it’s good to move, highlighting the role that physical activity plays in helping us lead healthier, happier lives both physically and mentally.

Reception – look at us keeping fit by dancing our socks off!

Year 1 had fun keeping fit with Jump Start Jonny today. They all whipped up their workout and stretched their muscles.

Year 2 completed 10 star jumps, 10 hops, 10 jumps and 10 laps of the MUGA.

Year 3 did a mini fitness class consisting of 10 x star jumps, 10 x squats, 10 seconds running on the spot and 10 seconds arm circles.

Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed participating on star jumps, side steps, high knee jogging on the spot and playing the bean game. Unfortunately, the weather was against us most of the day which led to a change in plans but we managed to get outside for a short time with a little drizzle. We had great fun.

Year 5 completed 10 minutes of a fitness routine designed for children. They did stretches, cardio exercises and strengthening exercises.

Year 6 got competitive and challenged each other on speed and agility, making fitness fun.

Year 6 and Year 2 also had a fun fitness PE lesson with Miss Conway in the hall, the music was loud and there were lots of red faces 🙂

All of our children finished their lunchtime by doing a Yoga Breathing exercise. This helped our children to be calm and ready for their afternoon of learning.

Fantastic effort everyone!

COVID – 19 Update

25th September 2020S Office

INFORMATION  – 02/10/2020

Dear Parent and Carers,

You will probably be aware that many school settings have been advised to close to particular ‘bubbles’ or year groups as they have been told to isolate. For the last few weeks we have managed here at Stanhope Primary, to run to capacity, however there may be a time in the very near future when we may have to close to a year group or year groups.

Unfortunately, a closure of this type will be at very short notice. You will be notified of a closure via our website, Facebook page, as well as our text messaging service.

We will all do our best to remain open however the safety of our children and staff is paramount.

Thank you for all your support since we returned in September.

Mrs L A Martin

Dear Parents,

As you are aware, South Tyneside is currently under enhanced restrictions due to the Covid19 Crisis.

It is my duty to inform you that parents should not be dropping off or collecting children from other households even if the children are in the same ‘bubble’ at school. These restrictions are in place so the transmission rate reduces.

Please see the link below for full guidance published by South Tyneside Local Authority.

https://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/69129/Coronavirus-COVID-19-

This guidance states that residents must not socialise with other people outside of their own household or support bubble in private homes and gardens. A support bubble is a close support network between a household with only one adult in the home (known as a single-adult household) and one other household of any size.

Please support us with this guidance, this will help towards reducing the transmission rate and returning to some normality.

Thank you

Mrs L A Martin

Year 4 Science

22nd September 2020Cheryl Henderson

Year 4 began their new Science topic this week; Circuits & Conductors.

We discussed what a complete circuit is, the different types of electricity (static and current) as well as investigating different set ups with a range of components (exploring if they would or would not work).

Great enthusiasm and excitement from our pupils today.

Challenge: Would this circuit work? Explain why/ why not.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE SCHOOL GATES

22nd September 2020S Office

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Maintaining Social Distancing at the beginning and end of the school day.

Dear Parents

As you are aware the R rate within South Tyneside has increased significantly over the last few weeks and added to this we have all been given guidance to follow to ensure we all remain safe. It is my duty to ensure not only our children and staff are protected but also you as my parents and families.

We have staggered arrivals for the start of the day – 8.45-9.05am, therefore there is no need for parents to gather on the streets by the gates. Please stagger your arrival time, there is a 20 minute window for you to drop your child off at the school gate. PLEASE DO NOT GATHER AT THE GATES AND MAINTAIN A 2 METRE DISTANCE FROM OTHER FAMILY GROUPS.

Our new pick up times at the end of the day are from 3pm – 3.15pm

Parents with more than one child – 3pm

Parents of children from Year 1 and 2 – 3.05pm

Parents of children from Year 3 and 4 – 3.10pm

Parents of children from Year 5 and 6 – 3.15pm

We have pushed the times back as the children were missing important parts of their learning. I realise that timings are tight but please can you arrive at the designated time and once you have your child/children leave immediately. I am not permitted to have too many parents on the premises at the end of the day. I understand that these requests do sound harsh but it is to ensure everyone’s safety. Once again please do NOT GATHER and you must maintain a 2 metre distance.

I will review this process in a few days, if it is not working I will have to put in place a one way system, which will mean an inconvenience to many of you, as you will be entering and leaving the premises from different gates.

Please help us all keep everyone safe.

Mrs L A Martin

CHANGES TO COLLECTION TIMES

18th September 2020S Office

Changes to collection time at the end of the school day.

On Monday 21st September the new times for collecting your children at the end of the school day are as follows:

Parents with more than 1 child in school – please come to collect children at 3pm

Year 1 and Year 2 parents – please arrive for 3.05pm

Year 3 and Year 4 parents – please arrive for 3.10pm

Year 5 and Year 6 parents – please arrive for 3.15pm.

Reception children with no sibling in school – 3pm from the gate into the Unit.

Morning arrivals will remain as they have done for this week and children in Year 1 to Year 6, can be dropped off at the school gates from 8.45am – 9.05am. We are still asking that no parents come on to our premises in the morning.

Once parents have collected their children at the end of the school day, please leave the premises as soon as possible so our next year groups can be collected.

Where possible, when waiting for the gates to open or for your designated collection time at the end of the day, please keep at least 1 metre away from other parents and as directed from the Local Authority we must stress that parents DO NOT gather by the gates or close by to the school.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding through these difficult times.
