OUR NEW EYFS YARD AREA
We are delighted to finally present and use our wonderful new EYFS yard. Today Nursery and Reception pupils were able to access the yard and begin to play on the various new installations – they were so excited and loved being out there having waited so patiently whilst work was being conducted. It is a welcome addition to our school grounds. Our pupils will thrive in this new learning environment.
Year 5 visited The Word as as part of their computing curriculum. The children worked in groups to film their storyboards, about Ancient Greek gods, in various locations throughout the building. They then edited their clips in iMovie, adding in titles and photos to their green screens.
In the afternoon, the children used crumble kits and programmed them to light up a sparkle where they could create a sequence of different coloured lights. The children added motors to their crumbles and programmed them to move forwards and backwards. They had to use problem solving and teamwork skills to ensure that their crumble was programmed correctly.
SOUTH TYNESIDE SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY FINALS
On Friday 38 pupils from KS2 competed at Temple Park Leisure Centre in the South Tyneside Cross Country Finals.
Each child completed in their respective year group events, comprising of between 40 and 70 children from various schools in the borough.
All of our children, performed very well, working hard and demonstrating great determination right until the finishing line of their respective races.
Outstanding performers were:
Lucas (Y6) running a great race to pick up a hard earned SILVER medal.
Other Top 10 finishers included:
Maro (Y5) 5th, Emilia (Y4) 9th, Evie (Y4) 10th & Yanna (Y5) 10th.
We will now continue to work hard; building upon our endurance and resilience in order to get back to winning ways. Every mile counts…
WOW!! What a day!! Our A Team were crowned County CHAMPIONS and our B Team Runners-Up in the Tyne and Wear Dodgeball Finals, held at Tyne Met College on Monday.
The players were absolutely tremendous throughout the day, with the A Team undefeated (winning each game 10-0) and the B Team only losing to their counterparts 7-3 in the Final.
The A Team now progresses to the NORTHERN REGIONAL FINALS!
Congratulations to both teams who played with great skill, determination and a good sporting attitude too. Their hard work and practice for many weeks certainly has paid off.
I’m personally extremely proud of them all. Lots more practice ahead for our winning team too!
