South Tyneside Tag Rugby League Finals 2022

13th July 2022A Rogers
🟡🟢SOUTH TYNESIDE TAG RUGBY LEAGUE FINALS 2022🟢🟡

Today our 18 Tag Rugby players competed at Temple Park in the South Tyneside Finals.

Our 2 teams competed with wonderful team spirit, composure and focus.

The drive, determination and sportsmanship from our teams was second-to-none as always, shaking hands with teams and thanking referees and organisers too. They are a credit to us. The children gave 100% to their team in each and every game.

Our A Team topped the table to take gold 🏉🥇🏆 winning all 7 games convincingly, while the B Team finished a creditable 5th with 1 win and 1 draw.

As this is the last event of this academic year, as well as the final event for our Year 6 pupils it made the victory all the sweeter.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the pupils for their commitment and hard work. It’s been a privilege to coach and teach them, seeing them thrive and develop into great sportspeople. Congratulations and always remember that hard work does pay off. I’m so proud of you all and every child who represents us in the green and yellow of Stanhope. 😊👍👋👏

National Dodgeball Finals 2022

24th June 2022A Rogers
🟡🟢National Dodgeball Finals – Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke🟢🟡
After proudly reaching the National Finals today we unfortunately failed to progress to the knockout stages of the competition.
The children were a credit to Stanhope, reaching the finals in itself was a tremendous achievement. They played well, but the run of luck just wasn’t with us today. We came up against some tremendous teams and had a wonderful experience nevertheless.
Their commitment to training for the event has been undoubted.
I am extremely proud to have worked with and coached the team this year, I know we will bounce back stronger and hopefully make it again in 2023.
It’s been a long day after a 5:30am start and as we head home, we all hold our heads high.
A BIG thank you also to Mrs Wardle for her support and Mrs Ali for driving us today. 🚐🚙😃
Congratulations once again team – get a good nights sleep 💤 (although from the pictures some of us have nodded off already) 🙂👍

Anzac Day

25th April 2022A Rogers
Some of our school council had the chance to take part in an Anzac Day service on Ocean Road in front
of the John Simpson Kirkpatrick Memorial. They read a poem and laid a wreath on behalf of South Tyneside Schools.
Afterwards they attended the Town Hall for refreshments and a tour off the mayor.
They really enjoyed the experience and were a credit to the school.

South Tyneside Cross Country Finals 2021-22

25th March 2022A Rogers

Today 29 pupils from KS2 competed at Temple Park Leisure Centre in the South Tyneside Cross Country Finals.

Firstly, I must say the commitment of the children, to give up the afternoon of their day off, highlighted their dedication once again. I was truly delighted to see them all performing to their very best and giving everything in the green and gold of Stanhope. Aided by the wonderful support from various families and friends as the sun beamed down on us.

Each child completed in their respective year group events, comprising of between 40 and 70 children from various schools in the borough.

All of our children, performed very well, working hard and demonstrating great determination right until the finishing line of their respective races.

Outstanding performers were:

Bobby (Y5) was push all the way, but his sprint finish burnt off the opposition. He is such a great talent in so many sports!

Rhianna (Y4) led from the front and was never headed throughout a brilliant race to gold.

Lucas (Y3) such a dominant display and winner by over 10 seconds. Such fabulous potential for the future!

Other Top 10 finishers included:
Ruby (Y5) 5th, Dakota (Y3) 8th, Lacey (Y4) 10th & Lee-Jay (Y3) 10th.

The Y4 Girls were also team winners of their age category which is fantastic for them as it was, for some of them, their first competition representing Stanhope.

We therefore finished as 4th overall team scoring 358 points.

I am so proud of all of you. Every mile counts…🎖😁

Basketball Finals H4H Newcastle 2022

9th March 2022A Rogers

On Friday 4th March our 7 remaining A Team pupils competed in the Hoops4Health Finals at the Vertu Honda Arena, Newcastle. It was wonderful to watch the North Stand of Sport Central steadily filling up with 50 members excited families, staff and friends from Stanhope. This was lovely to see our community, getting behind the team in a big finals event! Our players were really motivated to play in front of so much support, and give their very best.

The Stanhope team took to the court for the first round robin game against St. Bede’s RC S/S, the defending champions. Both teams had a number of near misses, before St. Bede’s scored with just 8 seconds remaining. Therefore St. Bede’s won 2-0. Immediately after we had to compose ourselves to play Biddick Hall Juniors. It was a dominant performance from the team with Leyo scoring 2, Archie 1 and Bobby 1 basket to end the game as 8-0 winners. Therefore we qualified to play in the final.

The final took place at half-time in the Eagles game, in a front of a great crowd: St. Bede’s RC S/S were our opponents.

We immediately started positively, as we passed the ball around confidently. A flowing team move saw take an early lead with Leyo taking a fine long range shot to score. This was met by a fantastic roar from the Stanhope support! We then went on to have a number of near misses, it was end to end play, before St. Bede’s scored to equalise. 2 late opportunities for Stanhope were met with very aggressive fouls from the opposition. Unfortunately this was the way the game ended: 2-2. Therefore a shoot out would decide the victors. Archie and Olivia stepped up for the green and golds, but sadly could not score. St. Bede’s also missed their 2 efforts. Finally a sudden death shot would decide the title. St. Bede’s scored and unfortunately we missed. It truly was a devastating loss for our hard working team – they gave their all and I’m sure they will bounce back to winning ways soon.

Well done to the skillful and dedicated players who had all trained outside with such commitment in the build up to the finals.

Finally, a big thank you to the outstanding school community, for your support on a memorable sporting occasion for our school. We will be back even better, more determined and stronger once again next year!

South Tyneside Schools Boccia Finals 2022

4th March 2022A Rogers

On Wednesday 2nd March the Stanhope Primary Boccia Team attended a competition at Temple Park Sports complex. We were competing against 20 teams from across South Tyneside.

Stanhope played some pretty tough games against some great players. In some cases the final score came down to the final throw! Nail-biting stuff!

In the end, despite reaching the Semi-finals we were placed fourth overall. We are immensely proud of the team and all of their hard work practicing after school – well done Stanhope.
