E-Safety Week

3rd March 2025A Rogers

E-Safety Week February 2025

Year 2

On Monday, Year 2 discussed what E-Safety is. We discussed what technology is and how to keep safe when using the many different forms (phones, tablets and/or laptops). Ask us about STOP! CLOSE! TELL! On Tuesday, Year 2 discussed some key vocabulary based around our theme of ‘Too good to be true (scamming). We completed a word search to find these important words. We also took part in our E-Safety Lesson, which takes place every half term. On Wednesday, we discussed how to protect ourselves when using the internet and shared how we could look after our own wellbeing. On Thursday, we completed a competition poster. We wanted to advise other children of how to be safe in order to not become a victim of scamming. We know we should not share our name, age, address, school or passwords to others. We should never click pop ups and always STOP! CLOSE! TELL! We shared who our trusted adults were both in and out of school. On Friday, we shared a wonderful story about Computer Gremlins. We were able to say what was the right and wrong thing to do. We stopped the gremlins coming into our classroom by using STOP! CLOSE! TELL! Year 2 have enjoyed a range of discussions, activities and videos over the last 7 days. We had assemblies from our schoolteachers and via the internet – Safer Internet Day 2025 online live assembly. We have also enjoyed some guided reading activities finding out about the history of the internet and safer internet day.

Year 3

Year 3 investigated phishing scams. We looked at the clues that tell us that an email is real or someone who is trying to get out data or worse- our money! We found out that we should look for spelling and grammar errors (we were really good at that) and that phishers don’t really know who we are and are trying to catch us out. We were phishing detectives as we looked at a range of real and fake emails. We even had a competition to see who could write a scam email the best. It was really hard to deliberately spell things wrong!

Year 4

In year 4, we did many things to spread awareness of E-Safety week. We completed many crosswords, word searches and puzzles using this year’s theme. We looked at scams and discussed what they are. We then talked specifically about scams that target children and young adults. We then created our own scams. We discussed the features a good scammer
might use and talked about the reasoning behind this. We talked after about keeping an eye out for scams and if you were not sure, always to check with an adult. For our half termly E-Safety lesson, we discussed cyberbullying. We talked about what this was and how it affected people. We discussed ‘Stop’ (Several Times On Purpose) as our key for noticing when someone was being bullied or cyberbullied. We watched an E-Safety video showing a scenario and paused at different steps to discuss what we might do in the situation and what we could learn from this. We shared ideas on post-it notes (lilac for what made us hurt or uncomfortable online and yellow for where these dangers came from). We then shared our ideas as a class.

Year 5

During E-Safety week. Year 5 looked at ways to stay safe online and the importance of this. On Monday, the children identified online scams and the history of them. They learned that lots of these scams fall under the category of phishing and how they can report them. On Tuesday, Year 5 identified positive and negative ways of using the internet. The children identified that the internet can be used in a positive way to play games, read books and research. On Wednesday, Year 5 looked at how to stay safe online and created their own five ways to stay safe online. On Thursday, the children looked at ‘Too Good to Be True’ and spotted the scams. On Friday, Year 5 created their own digital footprint and were surprised at how much they use the internet. In our Guided Reading sessions, the children learned some interesting facts such as the internet was created in the 1960s and how the use of a mobile phone has changed over time.

Year 6

Year 6 have taken part in various activities linked to e-safety and scams throughout E-safety week. They have watched a video on scams, completed a guided reading session including answering comprehension questions. As well as this they took part in a lesson on scams and another one linked to phishing, all the time thinking about how best to keep safe especially as they are getting older and therefore may have more freedom online.  They also enjoyed completing a crossword linked to e-safety and designing and creating a poster for the competition.

South Tyneside Schools Boccia Finals 2025

21st February 2025A Rogers
Yesterday the 2025 Stanhope Boccia Team went to Temple Park to compete against 26 other teams to win a place in the County Final.
We had prepared well so we went in feeling confident.
We had a past Boccia team expert helping us to coach this year so victory was assured.
After 10 tough matches, Stanhope A bowled home with a BRONZE medal and Stanhope C, grabbed a GOLD. We were so proud!
A big shout out to Stanhope B, who won all of their matches but just got pipped to a place in the quarter finals on points.
They all played so well!
I am very proud of them all and special thanks to our deputy coach who came back to school every Monday to coach and pass on his expertise.
