South Tyneside Y5/6 Cricket Finals 2024

12th June 2024A Rogers
Well done to our Year 5/6 cricket team yesterday. It was a really tough competition and they were playing against some amazing cricketers. They didn’t manage a win but had a great experience and improved with each game. They picked up some tips from other players and they learned a lot. Well done to our year 4 students who stepped up to help as we had some players missing.
Big thanks to South Tyneside School Sport Network for organising and well done to East Boldon Junior School who were outstanding on the day and thoroughly deserved their win.

Northern Regional Dodgeball Finals 2024

6th June 2024A Rogers
NORTHERN REGIONAL DODGEBALL FINALS 2024
Today our 8 talented dodgeballers competed in Newton Aycliffe at the Regional Finals. Here 9 County winning teams, plus our B Team competed for a place in the National Finals.
We played very well and showed great skill and determination. Our many hours of practice paid off after we finished as superb silver medalists and therefore progress to the National Finals at Nottingham in July! Our B Team finished in 6th place to just miss out on a top 5 result to qualify.
In Group A our A Team firstly played Cathwaite Primary B and scored a 10-0 win this was followed by another 10-0 win against St. Mary’s RC Academy. Then we faced two incredibly tough battles, winning 6-4 vs. Kingsley Primary, then another 6-4 success vs. Althorpe & Keadby Primary.
In Group B the B Team  got off to a winning start with a 7-3 victory over West View Primary, this was followed by a 5-5 draw against the eventual winners Calthwaite Primary A Team. However, in their thrid game they were beaten 9-1 by Michael Syddall Primary, but bounced back to end their group matches with a 6-4 victory over Scawby Primary. Therefore the B Team were third in their group standings and would play off for 5th/6th position. Unfortunately they were to lose 8-2 vs Althorpe & Keadby Primary.
The A Team did progress to the Semi Finals as group winners where we faced Michael Syddall Primary winning 6-4.
In the Final we battled against 2022 National Runners Up Calthwaite CE Primary losing 7-3. Nevertheless the team progress along with the top 5 teams to the National Finals!
Congratulations  Our Third National Finals to look forward to. What a wonderful achievement ‍♂️‍♂️‍♀️‍♀️

Anzac Day – School Council

25th April 2024A Rogers

Today is Anzac Day, where we remember Australian and New Zealand service men and woman. Our School council were lucky enough to attend a service at the Kirkpatrick memorial in Ocean Road, where we all read the poem Flanders Fields. Zhalya and Gian gave a reading and then Poppy and Josh laid a wreath on behalf of all South Tyneside schools. Afterwards we were invited by the mayor for a reception at the town hall. We got to go on a tour of the very impressive council chambers and the Mayors office. The children behaved in a very sensible and respectful manner and were a credit to the school. Mrs Cooper.

Tyne and Wear County Boccia Finals 2024

20th April 2024A Rogers
After a long term of practise and training, the Boccia team attended the County Finals, at Gateshead Stadium, today. To say it was nail-biting is an understatement!
After coming runners up in our group, we were through to the semi-final. After a 3-1 win we were through to a very tense final.
We are pleased to announce that we won the final 6 points to 1 against Monkton, who played really well.
A huge congratulations to the team on the day and to the wider Boccia team, who have attended practises and competitions over the past few months.
We are all very VERY proud of them!!
