Champion of Champions Basketball Finals 24

20th April 2024A Rogers

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS BASKETBALL FINALS 2024
Well done to our super seven basketballers⛹️‍♀️⛹️‍♂️, who having won the South Tyneside Finals in March progressed to compete against the other 5 area winning teams. It was a high class event with some talented players on display.
In our first match, despite dominating play and having many opportunities to score could not quite find the basket we so desperately deserved, before conceeding in the final 3 seconds, against the run of play against Northumberland Champions Ovingham Middle School (0-2).
Next we bounced back with a convincing performance to run out 10-0 winners vs. Sunderland Champions Richard Avenue. Lee-Jay scoring a hatrick, Corey and Lucas scoring 1 basket each.
In our third match we didn’t perform to our best losing 4-0 to Newcastle Champions St. Alban’s.
But in our final two matches we raised our game, marked very well and created lots of attacking opportunities. We won 8-0 vs. North Tyneside Champions Ivy Road, Lucas scoring 2 wonderful layups, Oliver and Lee-Jay scoring too.
In our final game we won 4-0 vs. Gateshead Champions Glynwood with Rhea and Corey scoring 1 basket each.
Sadly it was not quite enough to progress, despite having scored the most baskets in the tournament convincingly, as well as the best goal difference, we were ranked 3rd.
In an uneventful final St. Alban’s won 2-1 on a penalty shootout vs. Ovingham Middle, after a 0-0 draw.

St. Alban’s (Newcastle)
Ovingham Middle (Northumberland)
Stanhope (South Tyneside
Ivy Road (North Tyneside) 4th
Glynwood (Gateshead) 5th
Richard Avenue (Sunderland) 6th

Congratulations to our team – so proud of your efforts and dedication to training over the past 4 months.

Mr Rogers & Miss Corr

TYNE & WEAR DODGEBALL FINALS 2024

WOW!! What a day!! Our A Team were crowned County CHAMPIONS and our B Team Runners-Up in the Tyne and Wear Dodgeball Finals, held at Tyne Met College on Monday.

The players were absolutely tremendous throughout the day, with the A Team undefeated (winning each game 10-0) and the B Team only losing to their counterparts 7-3 in the Final.

The A Team now progresses to the NORTHERN REGIONAL FINALS!

Congratulations to both teams who played with great skill, determination and a good sporting attitude too. Their hard work and practice for many weeks certainly has paid off.

I’m personally extremely proud of them all. Lots more practice ahead for our winning team too! ‍♀️‍♂️

South Tyneside Schools Boccia Finals 2024

27th March 2024A Rogers
What a day! We entered 3 teams, this year and each and every team played with confidence and control. Team A played well winning most of their games, Team B won all bar one game and Team C won half of their games.
The competition from other schools was very tough, this year and some matches rested on the score of the last ball, in the last match- honestly nail-biting stuff.
Teams A and B made it to the semi-finals but only team A made it to the play-offs.
Team A won a very respectable third place (bronze) by thoroughly beating Lord Blyton.
Special commendation to one year 6 girl who joined the team at the last minute and had NEVER played before!
Well done Stanhope, we are so proud of you- now on to the County Finals!
Mrs Ali

Basketball Finals H4H Newcastle 2024

14th March 2024A Rogers
🟢🟡SOUTH TYNESIDE HOOPS 4 HEALTH BASKETBALL FINALS🟡🟢
Wow what a night! Our seven brilliant basketballing superstars were crowned champions in what was a sintalating performance ⛹🏻‍♂️🏀⛹️‍♀️.
On Friday 8th March our 7 remaining A Team pupils competed in the Hoops4Health Finals at the Vertu Motors Arena, Newcastle. It was wonderful to watch the North Stand of Sport Central steadily filling up with 50 members excited families, staff and friends from Stanhope. This was lovely to see our community, getting behind the team in a big finals event! Our players were really motivated to play in front of so much support, and give their very best.
In the semi finals we face multiple past champions St. Bede’s South Shields. We scored an early basket via Dakota. Then the game was end to end. We had many close shots and runs at the hoop. But couldn’t add a second. St. Bede’s then scored an equaliser. We pushed hard to dominate the final minutes and a winner looked likely. Zac finally scored the winner on the buzzer (nail biting stuff 😬🙌🏻), to give us the 4-2 victory.
At half time in front of thousands of Newcastle Eagles supporters we played Forest View in a shortened Final. Lee-Jay scoring the early basket as we dominated the entire match to lift the trophy. Winning 2-0.
This is our first victory in this tournament and now we will play after Easter in the Champion of Champions Finals.
Congratulations to the team. Your hard work and dedication has paid off. But there’s more to come… Thank you to all of our tremendous supporters, made up of family and friends, as well as staff.
A night to remember 🏆🥇⛹🏻‍♂️🏀⛹️‍♀️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Today we read a story called Penguins don’t wear sweaters. We then carried out an experiment to see what would happen if oil was spilled into the ocean. We tried a few ways to clean it up and found out that detergent was the best method.
