A big THANK YOU to everyone who donated food to our Harvest Festival collection. Some of our school council helped sort it all into boxes, there was an amazing amount. The food was collected by
food bank and it will go to those in need.

Today, Year 3 had two palaeontologists come to our school!
Socially distanced of course!
We had a video conference with Dr Denver Fowler and Dr Liz Fowler from Dickinson Museum Center in North Dakota.
The children asked them lots of their own questions and they answered them brilliantly!
The children were shown fossils of a Tyrannosaurus Rex’s tooth, an ammonite, a skull of a young Stegosaurus and a full skeleton of a raptor.
They told how we can discover facts about dinosaurs by looking and studying their fossils.
Lots of the children would now like to be a palaeontologist!
SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS SCHOOL GAMES PENTATHLON
Key Stage 2 have really enjoyed participating in the South Tyneside School Sport Network and Sportshall Athletics School Games Pentathlon . We have competed in the Chest Push, Shuttle Run, Standing Long Jump, Speed Bounce and Vertical Jump.
These results were converted into individual points and the children awarded gold, silver, bronze or step 1-10 🥇🥈🥉
The children gave their all and we’re delighted with their certificates.
The results will be shared with South Tyneside and then Nationally so we will eagerly await to see where Stanhope rank 💛💚
Reception have been learning about where our food comes from as part of our Harvest celebrations. We have read the book Oliver’s Vegetables. We have used our senses to explore some vegetables and yesterday after predicting what they might be like on the inside , we cut them in half.

Reception enjoyed working as a team to build an obstacle course today.
Meanwhile indoors we drew pictures for special people in the writing area.
Year 4 have been challenging themselves with all four maths operations in Arithmetic. We took part in a range of games looking at mental strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Year 2 have been making their own rain makers as part of their Aboriginal Art topic. The children needed to follow a set of instructions to make their rain maker. They loved the papier-mâché part of the lesson – it was very messy!
Next week, the children will be painting their rain makers in their last Art lesson of this half term.
Yesterday, your child took home a sample of the Christmas card they designed this year.
